I’ve actually been thinking about taking a break from my Inspirational Insights Articles. I have some doctor appointments in Pittsburgh; nothing serious, but it may help my tremors. Then, to alleviate some numbness I have in my right hand, I may need surgery on my elbow to fix an out-of-whack nerve. I also have some things around the house that I’ve been putting off for quite a while so, once I’m over this nasty Covid and back to feeling like doing something instead of laying around all day, I might actually get those done. My daughter reminded me, “When our cell phones start to lose power, we have to charge them up. Maybe you just need a little time to recharge too.” I think she’s right.
I do intend to start them up again in the near future but just need this time to work on myself and things that need to get done. I’m sure you will all understand and wish me the best.
I’ll still be checking my email every day, so feel free to contact me at any time, for anything. I love you all so stay safe, stay healthy, and keep the faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
INSPIRATIONAL INSIGHTS
#32 – A Few of My Favorites– October 3, 2024
Beginning with Genesis and reading through the Bible, we find that one verse in each book that makes us stop and just think about what it means in our life and how precious it is to us. I have many verses that I’ve highlighted throughout the whole Bible, but there just seems to be one or two special verses in each book that makes me smile and my heart feels like it skips a beat when I read it. Then there are whole books that seem to be our favorites. For me it’s Genesis, Esther, Psalms, the four gospels, Romans and especially…Hebrews. There’s just something about Hebrews. There are so many special verses that I can think on for several minutes. I’d like to list a few of my favorites below from this wonderful and informative book.
Hebrews 1:14, “Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation”? These angels are ministers; servants of God. I do believe we have angels that watch over us and protect us from danger that we might find ourselves in. This verse gives me peace.
Hebrews 2:15, “For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted”. This clearly indicates that no matter what we go through…He went through it too…only worse. But by doing so, He understands and is able to help us, through the Holy Spirit, to resist the urge when we are tempted.
Hebrews 3:4, “For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God.” This takes me back to the very beginning…”In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”. It also reaffirms that Jesus was with God in the beginning and…is God.
Hebrews 4:16, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time off need”. Any of you who receive an email from me will notice this verse at the bottom. Whatever is on our mind, in our heart, if we are troubled, or hurting in any way, we can go to Him. He is that Friend we need when we need someone to talk to. And we can talk to Him anywhere, at any time and we don’t have to be afraid or ashamed of anything we say or anything we have done. He knows.
Hebrews 7:24-25, “But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them”. There is no more sacrifices to make because He was the last sacrifice; the one and only high priest who died for us…and He was the last high priest we will ever need. Thank God!!
Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hope for, the evidence of things not seen.” Not even Webster himself could describe faith in such a perfect way. This used to be my favorite verse because it’s always fascinated me with the pure and profound way that it describes. This is a verse to remember if you are ever asked about your faith.
Hebrews 13:1-2, “Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing, some have unwittingly entertained angels”. I truly believe I have met some of those angels. I can almost bet (if I were a betting person) that most of you have also. They may be a neighbor (which I believe I have), a family member (which I believe I have those also), or it could be a complete stranger that has been able to help when we find ourselves in trouble. As wicked as this world seems, there are those that truly seem like angels just at the moment we need them.
Even though there are many more of my favorites from Hebrews, I will add one more. Hebrews 13:14, “For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come”. Nothing on earth will exist forever. No building or any man-made object will continue to stand forever. But we have the opportunity to witness that eternal city where all our troubles, sickness, heartaches, and fears, will no longer exist. Pure love, beauty, and happiness will surround us for all eternity. That should be our goal to focus on!
There is one more verse that I’d like to bring to your attention and it’s not found in any of the books I’ve listed above. It’s found in the book of Colossians.
Colossians 1 15, “He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation”. Read that again and get the full impact of it. This tells us indisputably, who Jesus is. Although we cannot look upon God in His spirit form because of His magnificence and brilliance, Jesus came to earth, walked, talked, taught, and lived among us to show us who God is because HE IS GOD. God gave us the opportunity to see Him in human form and to experience His glory here on earth. Oh, to have been able to touch Him, as so many got to do. To talk to Him and listen as He taught through the parables and His teachings, would have been mind blowing; and yet so many didn’t even realize what they got to be a part of. Many today still don’t see the wonder and truth in Jesus Christ. Only those who believe and accept Him as their Savior will be taken to that place mentioned in Hebrews 13:14.
There are so many verses that I’d like to bring to your attention but you probably already have your favorites. I would love it if you would share a favorite verse or two that you are partial to. You would probably introduce to me something I haven’t realized before. Many times we pass over certain verses that we should pay more attention to. I may even use some of your verses in my articles once I resume them again. So please feel free to continue to email me and keep in touch because…I will be back.
And when I am…you, my friends, will be the first to know!
